Skånetrafiken and Östgötatrafiken launch applications for mobile ticketing
Feb 20, 2010
Skånetrafiken (www.skanetrafiken.se), the Swedish transport authority covering the southern part of Sweden has launched a new mobile ticketing solution. Boomerang fuels the personalization and integrates with the mobile ticketing server and the payment service provider, and the passenger can use the personal section of the website to set up and manage their preferred way of using the system.
Earlier this year, AB Östgötatrafiken (www.ostgotatrafiken.se), a Swedish transport authority covering the region of Östergötland launched a ticketing application where Boomerang played a similar role. In this case, the mobile ticketing application is integrated with the travel planner allowing a passenger to browse favorite trips (stored in Boomerang) and then buy a ticket in one single personalizad session.
Says Peyman Sabet, Sales Director at Skånetrafiken: "Mobile ticketing is a great complement to our smart cards, especially aimed at occasional travelers. It reduces cash handling on the buses and with the new solution we also have the possibility to avoid the transaction fees that come with an SMS (text message) based solution. Strategically, we see a tremendous opportunity in using mobile applications to communicate tailored offers and services to travelers."
Says Niklas Johnsson, Head of Marketing Boomerang at CSC. "The value of Boomerang's customer hub with a single view of the passenger across systems becomes evident as soon as a public transport authority has more than one e-ticketing system, such as one smart card system and one mobile ticketing system."
